The title says it all. Believing in something
and refusing to entertain the possibility that there is anything which
cannot be accomplished if we set our minds to a task will see positive
results. Doubt and uncertainty, or a deliberate failure to do what is necessary,
for whatever reason, will guarantee the exact opposite. It may take a considerable
amount of time and effort but it will happen. Finally, there is a leader
who I believe has the wisdom and fortitude to lead us out of this morass.
And not a minute too soon.
We are seeing a perfect example of the
two mindsets right now in the United States. The new President is an optimist
and is prepared to put everything on the line in order to do what must
be done in the best interests of those he represents. The Opposition is
playing the percentages in hopes he fails in his efforts seeing it as a
means of political gain for them long term. Never mind the misery they
may well cause for the millions they swore to serve. They want him to fail.
Seriously. I am not exaggerating. They
are behaving in an abominable manner with no regard for the welfare of
their country using as a compass their all consuming political ambition.
Never mind that they created this disaster. All that matters in their world
is that they regain control. But they fail to consider one very significant
fact. They seriously underestimate the man the American people elected
as their Leader. This Leader does not believe in failure. He will succeed
because he believes in what he is doing and he will prevail.
He has an edge they are not considering.
If I read this man correctly he is not your typical politician. His life
doesn't begin or end on whether he wins an election. He has his priorities
very much in order. He has taken on a job which needed doing and he'll
give it his all because he doesn't know any other way. If his detractors
succeed and his efforts are in vain he will have given it his very best
and he will accept the responsibility for that failure even though in large
measure it will be because they were successful in convincing the American
people he was wrong. And the major media which lives for ratings are once
again aiding and abetting this malevolent enterprise. Today's media is
with a very few notable exceptions interested in the sensational rather
than objective journalism.
Somehow I do not see that being the scenario
which plays out. I believe he will succeed. This man is not your run of
the mill politician who will cave in to pressure. He knows what needs doing
and he will do it. It won't happen quickly and there will be missteps and
roadblocks along the way, but he will accomplish the almost impossible
task he has taken on despite their 'best' efforts.
I have been studying American politics
most of my adult life and for the first time in several decades I see a
man who intellectually and emotionally is ideally equipped for this task.
The right man at the right time. And no, I am not star struck as his opponents
are so quick to label his defenders, nor am I naive politically.
I quite simply recognize excellence, humanity, and quality when I see it.
This man is not a miracle worker nor a
messiah and he cannot solve all these problems alone. He needs the trust
and assistance of everyone uniting to support his endeavours if they are
to succeed. Failure to do so guarantees disaster for all of us. I
say all of us because the United States of America dictates monetary policy
world wide and as the USA goes, so goes the world. Its a time for setting
aside political ideologies and working together to dig us out of the abyss
which previous administrations have created and which threatens to engulf
us in more misery and hardship than most can even imagine if you are younger
than I am. Do not allow those with an agenda which is not in your best
interests to sway you. Ignore them, their agenda is not one for the common
good. Its completely self serving and destructive. Just look back
at the past eight years and tell me I am wrong.
Are we better off now than we were eight
years ago? Sound familiar ? It should. Those are the paraphrased words
of the man who set the agenda for the opposition at a time which seems
like a lifetime ago. I wonder if he had any idea of the curse he was unleashing
on us all. I somehow doubt it. He was a decent man although he may have
been misguided. Or perhaps he simply underestimated the allies he had chosen.
Don't make that mistake. Stick with the
man who can and will undo the wrongs which those allies have wrought. He'll
see us come through this intact. I sincerely believe this. We may be bruised
and battered but we will come through this. As I recently read somewhere
...'we can make this better, or we can make it worse. It's a choice, not
a destiny'.
I'd say 'its always darkest before the
dawn' but that's an overworked cliché. We will see this through.
It just takes standing together and trusting in the man you have chosen
to lead.

still believe in an America where anything's possible ...
they just don't think
their leaders do"
