Slim's Place - The Snow People's Secret

There are a whole bunch of people, including grown ups , who have no real idea about the life of Snow People. It's always been a particularly well kept secret amongst Snow People, and of course their animal friends. Snow People trust four legged animals. They aren't always so sure about the two legged kind - the ones we know as people. After all, the four legged animals don't kick them, or knock them down like the two legged ones do at times.

Of course, most times people don't mean to be cruel. They have no idea Snow People have feelings and can hurt just like we do. I'm also absolutely certain that people have no idea how unhappy Snow People are when the sun gets warm and they start to melt. They would love to be able to run and play in the sun, like they see the children doing on nice warm sunny days, but instead when the sun is warm and bright they begin to shrink and eventually disappear, until the weather turns cold again and it is time for the Snow People to reappear.

These amazing people have learned to be very, very careful not to allow us to see them as they move about. They have learned they must remain as still as statues during daylight, and only have fun and visit with one another after dark. The night time is a magical time for them. When nighttime arrives they move about, and even travel down to the nearby pond when it has frozen over, and have wonderfully jolly skating parties. They also slide down the nearby hills - and all without needing a toboggan or sled. The sight of them playing and enjoying themselves is one we are not fortunate enough to see but our animal friends do, and in fact, the animals frequently join them at play.

Snow People don't very often complain about much or act sad . Take a good look at the next snowman you see - doesn't he have a smile on his face? The Snow People know that others much prefer to see a happy face, rather than one which is all gloomy and glum. This only proves that Snow People show a whole lot more good common sense than many regular people do at times !

There is only one really big complaint the Snow People have. The animals know about this complaint and have decided to do something about it this year. Santa doesn't visit the Snow People or remember them at Christmas, ( perhaps he - like us - has never seen them in action so assumes as we do, that the Snow People are only snow statues). The animals all know Santa, and have planned a big surprise for the Snow People this Christmas. They know that Santa only has to be told the secret and he will make very certain that all the Snow People are remembered on his Christmas rounds.

Recently, the raccoons, the deer, and the rabbits, all got together and decided to send a group of their friends on a quick visit to Santa's workshop to ask for his help with their big surprise. They chose their speediest friends, because they knew they needed to give Santa plenty of time to prepare so many more gifts. They told the group exactly what to say to Santa. And, they made them promise to hurry right back home once they had Santa's promise to help, so plans could be made to make Christmas Eve the best night of the year for the Snow Boys and Girls.

The animals have already been having soooo much fun planning the big surprise they haven't even had time to worry about what Santa will bring them this year! You see, animals already know that it is much more fun to make others happy than it is to only think of themselves.

The messengers made a very quick trip to the North Pole and returned from their mission with grins that really did stretch from ear to ear ... Santa had been so surprised to hear that the Snow People were not just snow statues ! And, everyone had always thought Santa knew everything !! See ... NO ONE always knows everything ... we can all always learn something from others, if we only take the time to listen!

When he heard the news Santa was as concerned as the animals about making certain the Snow People would NEVER EVER again be forgotten. He even made some really neat suggestions to make their surprise even better. And he promised he and Rudolph and the other reindeer, would personally take the time out of their busy schedule on Christmas Eve to actually spend some time at the Snow People's Christmas Eve skating party . He even said he might join them on the ice .. because after all, Santa is magical too, and if Snow People can swoop and glide across the frozen pond without skates, then of course he can too!

Now the animals are really, really excited ! Santa will actually be coming to their party ! What a wonderful Christmas this promises to be. It seems everyone wants to help with the party plans. Their excitement about the big surprise is making the weeks fly by as Christmas Eve approaches.

Some of the animals were worried at first that coming to the party might make Santa late arriving at some of the little childrens' houses but other wiser animals reminded those worriers that the children would understand. After all, even really grouchy people didn't get unreasonable or impatient until they were much older than the children Santa visited.

One of the animals even suggested, " isn't it sad that growing up seems to cause some people to completely forget that being kind, considerate of others, and believing in magic, always makes you feel so happy yourself ! "

So don't be surprised if Santa is a bit late getting to your house this year. He WILL get there of course, but if the skating party is as great as it promises to be, he may be behind schedule. Please don't forget his milk and cookies - because after all that skating exercise he will be REALLY ready for a snack. He has already told the animals not to worry about preparing any food for him at the party but to be sure and have food for the reindeer so they can eat while he is partying with the Snow People. After all, they will have a lot of time to make up and will need the extra energy for the long night's journey ahead.

Oh, by the way, be sure to check out the first Snow man or Snow woman you see after Christmas Eve has passed - I bet you will have never seen a wider grin than you will see on his or her face !

And I'll bet you something else as well ... I'll bet that smile you see makes YOU feel reaallly good, and extra happy too!

We are always around and we watch over you all year long. You never see us because it is only at Christmastime that are we allowed to show ourselves, or make our presence known. You see, we are your very own special Christmas Angels who have been with you since you were a wee tiny baby and we will continue to be with you just as long as you continue to believe in magic. So, for goodness sake, don't turn into a grouch and forget to believe when you grow up or you will chase us away !

Just remember - Never ever stop believing in the Magic which is with us all each and every day, if we just open our eyes and our hearts and recognize it !
