Why ? Because we bought into the propaganda of fear fed to us by those elected to represent us and uphold the time honoured traditions and standards we inherited from those who handed us this precious legacy which they trusted us to protect and revere.

A former President of the United States said many years ago during time of war " We have nothing to fear, but fear itself." That man was Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the time was the Second World War. Obviously, those who preceded us were made of much better stuff than we are today.

Certainly there have been those who warned of what was transpiring but instead of listening and demanding our governments stop those who were acting in such a cavalier fashion with our heritage as they followed their own nefarious agendas, we retreated into devouring the latest salacious or unsavory story the mainstream media chose to feed us instead of reporting the actual news of the day. Edward R Murrow and others of his stature and integrity must be spinning in their graves as they see what has become of their once noble profession. 

And blaming others is a complete cop-out. They work for us. We are their  employers. Yes, they are devious and corrupt but we have sanctioned such behaviour by the very fact that we did nothing to stop them. We stood back and allowed it to happen. Far too many have consistently even applauded their actions. There is quite simply no excuse for that. Absolutely none.

How many more will die in our name, and how much more hatred will we cultivate, before we finally find our spines and demand  that it stop. Waiting until an election is called  and these miscreants are gone is not an option. By the time that happens even more damage will be done. Conceivably even more horrific than what has already transpired. And just possibly, beyond any possible chance of a diplomatic resolution. We reap what we sow, and we are sowing a crop which is destroying any chance of peace on this planet.

We must protect the children. They  absolutely deserve their future. Not the inevitable holocaust we are bequeathing to them at the moment but the same future which was bequeathed to us to live in freedom and at peace with our fellow man. Certainly there are enemies we must deal with but we are not even beginning to deal with them on the path we are now following. All we are accomplishing at the moment is to increase their numbers. We, by our actions, are serving as the ultimate recruitment tool for their cause.

Bottom line ..  reality is that we are outnumbered. If we alienate the entire Muslim world, who presently are not our enemy, because contrary to what we are being fed by those with the agenda which has brought us to this point, the truth is our enemy is presently only a small segment of that world, we create an enemy which will eventually destroy us and our way of life. The terrorists must be cheering. They are well on the way to achieving their goal. And we will have handed it to them on a silver platter.

And why? Because we bought the "fear mantra" and lacked the courage to defend our children's birthright. We may deserve such a fate. They most assuredly do not.
