Everyone deserves and needs to be loved.
No one more than a child. A child asks for so little and far too many in
today's world are deprived of that essential need. Why a child is brought
into this world when there is no love awaiting them has always
been a question for which I have never been able to find an answer. For
those who feel that each child deserves to be born regardless of the circumstances,
I ask .. do they not also have an absolute right to be loved once they
are here ? How is it right to give them life if that life is to be devoid
of any semblance of love or human warmth? To bring a child into this
world is a gift beyond compare and for the child to be faced with a life
which has no warmth and where there is nothing but hurt, both physically
and emotionally is a sin which defies explanation.
No excuse will suffice. No remorse
when it is too late will ever right the wrong done to that child.
Society bears the responsibility as surely as the parent who harms the
child they never wanted, resent, and for whom they can find no love in
their heart. How does a mother harm her own child ? How does a father
abuse or mistreat the tiny being for whom he has such an awesome
responsibility ? No act is more reprehensible and most assuredly
no act is more unforgivable or inexcusable. There has to be something terribly
wrong with a society which turns a blind eye to the reality of what so
many children are faced with from the very first moment they draw breath.
They are defenceless and utterly at the mercy of those who brought
them into this world.
Many believe it is a sin to terminate
such an event before it takes place. I would dispute that. I believe the
greater sin is to force a life on that child which they wouldn't
wish on even the basest of creatures in the animal world. Why is it that
if they do bring children into the world they don't have the human decency
to at least give someone else the opportunity to provide the love
and protection which they are incapable of providing and which is so sorely
needed by that precious baby ?
Harsh, judgmental ? Yes, it probably is
and I do believe that to be wrong in most instances but when it comes
to a child being harmed and denied the love and protection they need
so desperately I plead guilty. I simply cannot find it in my heart to condone
mistreating a child. No excuse will suffice. Children come into this world
totally defenceless and dependent on those who gave them life to care for
them and provide the warmth and human contact that every baby craves.
When the one they have every right to expect will protect them from harm
is the one they learn to fear the most can we even imagine what life is
like for that child ? And how can we stand by and allow these children
to suffer as they do. Yes, often we are unaware of their circumstances
but something is very wrong in a society which too often does have
actual signals that a child is in danger and turns a blind eye to the horror
with which these children live.
Everyone has a right to wishes and
dreams. No one more than a child. Surely hell will be filled with those
who would harm a tiny child. The pedophile is a repulsive, detested excuse
for a human being. What is the parent who deprives their own flesh and
blood of love and affection and only teaches them to fear, and live
a life they never asked for, filled with apprehension and a longing to
be loved ?
Only loved. Why is it that so often ...
that is asking too much ?
Where's Mommy And
Daddy ?
Alone, hungry and afraid, little
one hiding,
Left in piercing darkness, no one providing.
Eyes raining tears, heart beating wild,
Fear creeps in again, small-forlorn child.
Silent movement occurs, seeking human touch,
Looking in every room, why am I left so
much?
The bruises will slowly fade, screamed
words tumble in memory,
Broken bones begin to heal, will someone
just love me please?
I am so afraid, I need someone to care,
If arms would only hold me, my fears to
share.
I am only a little child, helpless in
every way,
Will you please love me, will someone
hold me today ?
